Legacy of Leadership Awards Dinner

Wednesday, May 12, 6:15 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.

This elegant event recognizes individuals and institutions who have made and continue to make major contributions in shaping the destinies of past, current and future generations of leaders. This award heralds the accomplishments of both women and men who exemplify stellar leadership qualities as they significantly enhance the role of women of color and others throughout the nation and around the world. Award recipients have not only achieved success in their respective fields, they are also advancing the mission of women of color and others.

If you would like to attend only the awards dinner, you may purchase a ticket via the online registration form. The cost is $60 per person. Please note that if you register for the awards dinner only, you will not have access to other conference activities.

 

2010 Honorees

Ann Cramer

Ann Cramer, Director, Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs for the Americas, IBM

Ann Wilson Cramer, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, graduated from Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with a degree in mathematics and serves on its board. She is with IBM Corporation as its Director for IBM Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs for the Americas. Ann and her husband, Jeff, their two children, Megan and Wil, are all active at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where Ann has served as Senior Warden of the Vestry. Ann started with IBM as a Systems Engineer in Jacksonville. After being "retired" from IBM for ten years, Ann returned to IBM in External Programs, now Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs. Ann's commitment to and involvement with children and youth has been a lifelong journey. Her current job with IBM allows her to continue her work with the improvement of conditions for families, because of IBM's historic involvement with and investment in local communities.

Sara Manzano-Diaz

Sara Manzano-Diaz, Director, Women’s Bureau, U.S. Department of Labor

On September 30, 2009, Sara Manzano-Díaz was nominated by President Barack Obama and was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate, on February 11, 2010, as the 16 th Director of the Women's Bureau at the United States Department of Labor. The Women's Bureau was created by Congress in 1920, the same year women were granted the right to vote. It is the only federal agency exclusively mandated to serve and promote the interests of working women. Director Manzano-Díaz’ vision is to empower working women nationwide to achieve economic security. Ms. Manzano-Díaz has spent her career in public service advocating on behalf of working class families, women, and girls. She has more than 25 years of federal, state, and judicial experience, including 16 years.

Lani Wong, Chair, National Association of Chinese-Americans, Atlanta Chapter

Lani Wong, Chair of NACA, has been at the forefront of community service and community leadership for nearly 30 years. She is a true pioneer in her vision and foresight in promoting U.S.-China relations, excellence in education, participation of Asian Americans in the American political process, and the importance of charitable organizations to serve the greater need of Atlanta community. Ms. Wong is a recognized community leader at the local, national, and international level.
