Paulette Lewis

Regional Adminstrator,
Women’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Labor

Paulette Norvel Lewis accepted the position of Regional Administrator of the Women’s Bureau of the U. S. Department of Labor (DOL) in November of 2006.  She is responsible for advocating for policies to improve salaries, working conditions and access to better jobs for working women and implementing the Bureau’s programs in the eight southeastern states.  As Regional Administrator, she also serves on the DOL’s Regional Executive Committee. 

Prior to coming to the Women’s Bureau, Lewis was Chief of Discretionary Programs for the Employment and Training Administration of the U. S. Department of Labor (DOL) with regional oversight responsibility for grants totaling nearly half a billion dollars.  Lewis came to federal service in 1993 as Regional Advocate for the U. S. Small Business Administration.  She owned her own consulting firm from 1986-93 and provided consulting services, career development counseling and training for corporations and non-profit organizations including Procter and Gamble, Premier Pizza, KPMG, Graphic Communications, The National Board of the YWCA, and The King Center. 

Lewis graduated cum laude from Edgewood College of the Sacred Heart in Madison, Wis. with a B. A. in education.  She has also done graduate work in business management at Central Michigan University.
