Sally A. Dean

Retired Investment Banker

Sally A. Dean is a retired investment banker with over 20 years of service on public company and non-profit boards and more than 20 years of experience managing endowments. She has advised and raised capital for municipalities, corporations, and public authorities.  She has advised and led both highly successful institutions and struggling institutions during boom and difficult markets. 

In 1982, she became one of the first women to become an officer, owner, and principal of a major Wall Street firm, Dillon, Read & Co. Inc., then privately-owned and now part of UBS.  She currently chairs the board of trustees of the Paideia School Endowment Fund, the investment committees of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church and a small environmental organization.

Dean received her bachelor’s in economics from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. She has a master’s in mathematics and secondary education from Stanford University. She has been married for 33 years to Peter Dean, a lawyer and United Kingdom citizen.
